Kabwana was born between September 2007 and November 2008, during a time that the Rangers could not access Virunga’s Gorilla Sector because of the war.

Kabwana is still very young and spends much time sleeping with mother Kayenga

Kabwana is named after a Ranger who died during the fighting of October 2008, when the Rangers had to flee the park.

We look forward to monitoring Kabwana’s progress in the Kabirizi family.
